She
has learnt the mental attitude as a doll artist since her
childhood, sitting beside her own father, Harabeishu, who
was the first doll artist of the family. Since the time
when she was 18 years old, she had gone through trainings
by learning the basics of doll making from her father,
Harabeishu.
She mastered the secret of the doll making that her father,
Harabeishu, created after many years of study, and was permitted
to succeed her father to become the second-generation doll
artist under the name of Harakoushu in 1986. (The Harabeishu’s
secret of the doll making were designated as an intangible
cultural asset by the Ministry of Education in 1966.) |
Afterward, she has produced many original works
even in the field of creative doll making, and has been activity
developing the highly motivated activities.
The dolls that have been produced deliberately and sincerely
by skillfully taking the modern technology, the technique,
and the sensitivity into the style studied from the first
Harakoushu have been highly evaluated as the works of art
and have been loved by a lot of people continually. |

I often receive a question
from various people, "What is the difference between
the dolls of Harakoushu and other dolls?"
I answer like this in such a case, "The desire
put in the doll making is different." I pride
myself that nobody will win over me when it comes to
the zeal for the making of dolls. I believe that it
is possible for you to surely understand my zeal, only
if people have once seen the dolls that I had made,
though such an assertion may sound unlike a woman.
If I say what is most important in the doll making,
it is whether or not one can draw the face of a doll
with the clearest feeling possible.
If my feeling has fallen into disorder, it alone spoils
my dolls, since I draw a face of a baby of pure innocence,
as a face of a doll that I make. Therefore, I can feel
the greatest satisfaction when I hear from customers
who have purchased my dolls, saying, "It very
well resembles to my child.” It will surely because
those customers were getting some warm feelings from
the dolls.
I have been working very happily until today, while
getting the words of a lot of warm encouragements from
a large number of people. And, there will be no more
delightful thing for me, if as many people as possible
could feel the peace of mind through the dolls that
I would make in the future as well.
There are still a lot of things left behind that I
have to learn as a doll artist. I am thinking how wonderful
it would be if I can advance in the future as well
for every customer. Please extend your help to me,
which I appreciate very much. |
